Thanks for your question! The ‘what to pack for a week-long backpacking trip’ article is an older post, but I think most of it still holds up pretty well. I’ll try and make time to go back and update it to include the technological innovations which have come along since it was written, including the amazing X-Pots and the equally amazing Sea to Summit Sleeping Mats

As to food for 1 – 2 weeks, there are very few places in the lower 48 states of America where you would hike for longer than a week without the chance of a resupply (exceptions being in northern Montana and the northern Cascades, for instance). A week’s worth of food can be carried without having to resort to a monster-sized backpack. Any more than that and you either need a resupply point, or the weight and bulk of food will begin to become restrictive (ie it might keep you to less technical trails or mandate shorter daily distances).

If you have a specific trip in mind, shoot me an email at info@seatosummit.com and put “food resupply – longer backpacking trip” in the subject line.

      Cheers

      B
